“Acupuncture has changed my life! I have had fibroids for many years and have had them removed multiple times. They seem to just grow back and I had extremely painful periods that were very heavy. My doctor suggested a hysterectomy and I started searching for alternatives. I decided to try acupuncture and a friend had referred me to her acupuncturist When I met Kolleen I was introduced to a whole new world of medicine. I admit I was a little skeptical but still motivated to avoid more surgery. We did acupuncture at certain times in my cycle, I took herbs, supplements, and changed some of my foods. After one cycle I noticed my pain was much less and overall I felt better. I kept going for acupuncture and checking and after 6 months I went back to my OB/GYN. I was happy to report my periods were pain free and I wanted to see how my fibroids were doing. We did an ultrasound and found they had shrunken almost 90%! They haven’t disappeared completely but they are no longer causing me to take off work and my cycles aren’t pain filled anymore! “I had 3 miscarriages and began IVF. I started seeing Kolleen during my IVF cycles and couldnt get to egg retrieval. My ovaries were “poor responders” to the medications. Acupuncture helped me with stress during the cycles and was a support as each one seemed to fail. We wanted to take a break and decided to keep doing acupuncture while we planned our next steps. Kolleen laid out a whole fertility program tailored for me. She suggested at least 3 months before we would consider another IVF round to recover from the 2 years of miscarriages and IVF cycles. . I was crushed because I knew I could get pregnant just couldn’t stay pregnant. I was 2 cycles into treatment and I became pregnant on my own again. I kept seeing Kolleen through the 1st 12 weeks and seeing my high risk OB/GYN at the same time for monitoring. I went monthly for wellness and nausea until I was full term then began getting acupuncture more regularly to prepare for birth. I was in disbelief until I held my daughter having been through so much and for so long! I saw Kolleen for some post-partum mood issues and for increasing my milk supply. ” I decided to try acupuncture after it was recommended to me by a close friend. I have battled depressive episodes on and off for the past 15 years and have been on and off antidepressants. When I met Kolleen, I struggled with feelings of anxiety, restlessness, sadness, apathy, and difficulty sleeping. Although I was not quite sure what to expect, I approached acupuncture with an open mind because I was determined to help myself without using antidepressants. I began acupuncture treatments in June and gradually noticed a shift in my thoughts and feelings over the next several months. For me, it is difficult to separate the practitioner (Kolleen) from the practice (the actual application of the needles).
